Amani Counselling Centre and Training Institute was founded in 1979 and registered as a not for profit organization to provide counselling and training services in order to meet the increasing psychological, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals, organizations and communities. It was registered as a professional training institution through the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MOEST) in January 1993, and was also registered on June 23, 1993 as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) under section 1 of the NGO Coordination Act
ACCTI obtained full registration on December 14, 2010 under Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MOHEST) under section 15 (2) of the Education Act Cap 211. ACCTI is fully registered and licensed by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM), Kenya Association of Private Colleges (KENAPCO) and Kenya Counselling and Psychological Association (KCPA)
